Art
Miriam has an individual style which is carried through all of her artwork whether it be drawing, painting or digital illustration.
Portraits and still life are some of her favourite subjects. Charcoal is a repetitive medium in her practice. She takes advantage of the dry, raw and hardy aesthetic and blurs, blends, carves and etches until she has recreated the living soul on a two-dimensional plane. Her work then comes alive through the bold, bright floods of paint which hug the figure. Miriam also works with oils to achieve similar portraits and acrylics when creating more colourful, abstract pieces. Her pieces emphasise the labor of drawing and act of shaping an image but also the materiality, colour and texture of paint.
