Portraits

Throughout my art degree, I refined my individual style of portraiture. I really enjoy working from a photograph and trying to render the same image by hand. I try to capture as much emotion as possible (love and joy being some of my favourites).

  • This client asked for a large-scale colourful painting which included happy faces. The client wanted the painting to have a striking impact, similar to that of a mural. Although this was a fully painted commission, there are clear similarities between this piece and my other drawings.

This artwork consisted of two sections, the first being the black and white portraits which I painted with oils and the second being the background which I painted with acrylic paints. The 70’s inspired colour palette and wavy/ groovy bursts of colour which outline and weave around the figures add to the cheerful and joyous tone of the painting.
